Seitdem diese Anthologie 1977 erschienen ist, sind nun auch schon ein paar Jahrzehnte ins Land gegangen. Die hier von Damon Knight veröffentlichten Stories sind allerdings noch ein paar Jahre früher in verschiedenen amerikanischen Pulp Magazines veröffentlicht worden. Sie erschienen ursprünglich in den 1940er Jahren und dürften zum größten Teil nie den Weg in den deutschsprachigen Raum gefunden haben. Unter dern Beiträgern finden sich viele bekannte Namen, die selbst heute noch bei den Liebhabern klassischer Western einen guten Klang haben.
